attempting affection for photo manipulation.

Although I am still feeling quite a bit of frustration in working with images and learning to manipulate them in photoshop, I still know that it is something worth learning. I have realized once again recently that I wish I was able to simply manipulate certain aspects out of photos, but I am unable in so many ways. And really I think that you are either born with some crazy knowledge of how to use Photoshop like a pro, or you use it and use it and use it and hate it until it clicks, and suddenly you love it and it become easier. It takes all of that hating, in my mind, though, which makes me wonder if it is worth it. In the case of taking portraits and manipulating them to look more expensive or worth the money, it is worth it, because you’re working for the money. I am still a fairly strong believer in the magic of the original image, though, and in the case of landscape or city personality images, I would rather wait for just the right moment, and then click the perfect image with the perfect aperture and shutter speed. I consistently feel like I am cheating when my RAW photo pops into Photoshop with an entire selection of initial manipulating options. I feel like I can take a picture no matter what the circumstances or weather or lighting, because I can most likely make it work once I pull it onto the computer. This is honestly very helpful in many cases, for example, when I was in Prague over the holidays, there was only about 6 hours of light every day, and by about 4 o’clock in the afternoon, it was dark. So if there was any desire to snap quick photos after that time, it was a relief to know that I could turn the shutter speed slower and add fill light once I brought it onto the computer. So it is obvious that I still have some mixed feelings about this topic, and I probably always will. My heart is possibly and SLOWLY warming up to Photoshop. It will still take awhile for any kind of affection.
